SVETI STEFAN BULGARIAN CHURCH
One of the first prefabricated structures
After the Bulgarian church was separated from the Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, the Bulgarians decided to build a church in Fener, some 150 meters north of the Patriarchate, in proportion to the Greek Cypriots. A project competition opened in 1890. Because of the rottenness of the ground, iron skeleton method was chosen to be lighter and durable by considering the bases of the piled pile structure. The Armenian architect Hovsep Aznavur from Istanbul won the project competition. The international competition held in 1892 for the implementation of the church project and the production of structural components was carried out by the Austrian company R. Ph. Waagner won. When the pieces were completed, the church was set up in the garden of the factory in Vienna before the company. Then the removed building elements moved to Istanbul with a boat over the Danube River and the Black Sea. It was rebuilt at the present place with a work of one and a half years, and worship was opened in 1898. As one of the first prefabricated structures, the world has an important place in the history of architecture.

Saint Antoine (Sent Antuan) Catholic Church The largest Catholic church in Istanbul. The Surp Asdvadzadzin (Meryemana) Armenian Church in Ilhan Sokak, Köyiçi Besiktas carries the signature of Garabet Amira Balyan, a member of the famous Balyan family. There was a wooden chapel on the site of the 18th century church built in 1838. Just as it is in the traditional Armenian church architecture, this place of worship is sitting on a cross plan. The buildings outside the mosque were prohibited from building a dome until the Tanzimat period. For this reason, the tops of the churches were either covered with a vault or roof. In order to maintain the legacy of the traditional Armenian church architecture, the Balyans set up a dome below the crushing roof in the Surp Asdvadzadzin Church in Besiktas, piercing the dome of the dome.
